With my newest podcast being video focused, I have integrated multiple cameras to keep my audience engaged. Creating a video podcast has come with a series of challenges.

Keeping more than five cameras in sync
Making sure my Rode Procaster Pro is in sync with my video files
Reducing hours spent in the editing bay, realigning the video and audio
Reducing friction in recording

To address these pain points comes the answer, timecode.

Creating Experience by Design, Edmonton Design Week 2022

Last night I had the opportunity to present a Pecha Kucha style presentation at Edmonton design week 2022. This type of presentation is 20 slides with 20 seconds to discuss each visual.

The topic that I chose was A Vignettes to Record in Colour

The following below are my biggest takeaways from the speaking opportunity.

Know Your Audience – it's essential to know your audience to be able to tell stories that will bring them value and that would resonate with them.
Try to be Present – I had several conversations with people in the audience before going on stage. I want to learn more about some of their design industry experiences to better layer in analogies that might bring value.
Listen to the Room – I was lucky to be the third person to presenting on stage. After each presenter, there was a period of Q&A. I could connect deeper with the audience by listening to keywords and then pointing them out to the audience members to recognize them and showcase that I heard them. This resulted in a few people coming up to me after to connect! Element
Do not over-prepare – I was very tempted to try to memorize my presentation, but instead, I wanted to use this opportunity to practice being more present at the moment. As well aware of the stories I wanted to share, but I gave myself some wiggle room to tweak the timing based on how the crowd was reacting
